This advertisement was an ad in the 1960's for Volkswagen. It is a woman with a scared look on her face as she is driving the car. The ad implies that women can not drive and that the Volkswagen is the "best protection" for a women's silly driving. Women are soft and gentle, but the hit things. If your wife hits something in a Volkswagen, it will not hurt her very much and VW parts are cheap and easy to replace. The appeal of the ad is the woman's big hazel eyes and blond hair. Women want a car for a source of escaping the house, whereas men want a car that will protect their wife from their "reckless driving". This ad was prefect at the time, however, they didn't take into the consideration the insult to women's driving.
